Meet Our Team
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Diane Conroy joined Good Shepherd Volunteers as the Executive Director in the spring of 2017. Diane has built her career in service to others, including volunteer management and youth ministry. Diane joined GSV from Free Arts NYC where she was responsible for revenue generation and programming for a portfolio of corporate clients. Diane was also a site resource person with Covenant House Faith Community and had a successful six-year tenure at New York Cares managing and overseeing events and programs.
As an alumnus of both Holy Cross Associates and Capuchin Youth & Family Ministry programs, Diane understands how transformative the experience of a year of faith-based service can be for our volunteers. She is a self-proclaimed optimistic extrovert and her career has been guided by her faith. Diane has a BA from the University of New Hampshire and completed Columbia Business School’s Developing Leaders Program for Nonprofit Professionals in 2013.
Michelle De Melo
Michelle joined GSV as the Communications Coordinator in November 2018. Her first exposure to service was as a young child during a trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she visited an orphanage with her mother and distributed toys to young children. While growing up, she had the opportunity to study in Rio de Janeiro and was part of a youth ministry. Michelle has a BA in Economics from Hunter College. While in college, she served as a volunteer at former St. Vincent’s hospital for two and a half years and during the end of her second year was awarded volunteer of the year.
Michelle’s innate desire to cultivate human connection is shown in her digital marketing work. She portrays Good Shepherd Volunteers’ mission and provides news and updates from our volunteers to our community on our organization’s social media pages, builds relationships with partners of the mission, and encourages prospective volunteers to apply to our program. Through GSV, she looks to spread the importance of carrying out acts of kindness. Michelle loves building GSV’s online community, especially reading and responding to the comments left on GSV’s Instagram and Facebook pages. She highly recommends you find GSV on social media: @gsvolunteers!
