ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT & ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Location: Sucre, Bolivia

International Volunteers - Bolivia

In partnership with the local Sisters of the Good Shepherd, the Sucre community uplifts women's rights within the economic, social and spiritual spheres, promoting their transformation and inclusion as leading actors in their own realities, families and communities. Program participants learn technical skills such as crafting, sewing and textile design. Their products are sold locally and to international partners, supporting economic empowerment and skillsharing. Beyond the entrepreneurial benefit, this program facilitates social empowerment, esteem-building, and hope. Good Shepherd Volunteers play a pivotal role supporting program administration, communication, and aiding the community whatever hardships come their way.

.

GSV Role

GSVs serving in Bolivia have filled many different roles, all supporting women, economic justice projects, and the local community. Volunteers may assist in planning and preparing the work environment, facilitating special events, and preparing needed materials and supplies. The skills of the volunteer and the needs of the site are taken into account while developing a unique role for each GSV. There are typically one to two volunteers in Bolivia.
