Introducing the 2017-2018 Good Shepherd Volunteers!

We are proud to introduce the incredible 2017-2018 volunteers!  The Good Shepherd Volunteer year began this August with a week-long Orientation at Loyola Retreat House in Morristown, NJ. Our volunteers spent the week getting to know each other, learning about the GSV mission and history, and diving deeper into our four tenets of social justice, simplicity, spirituality, and community.

This year we have 8 domestic volunteers placed in California, New Jersey and New York as well as 3 international volunteers placed in Thailand and Bolivia!

Let's meet the communities....

Washington Heights Community

Amore Alvarenga (NSP Rose House), Spencer Carter (Public Policy), Gabby Gregory (Family Foster Care), Kiara Murphy (17th St-Marian Hall), Christine Driscoll (17th St-Marian Hall)

Los Angeles Community

Amethyst Lewis is living in community with the LMU Ignatian Service Corps and is serving at the Good Shepherd Shelter in Los Angeles

Good Shepherd Volunteers connects recent college graduates to one-year, full time volunteer opportunities serving women, children, and adolescents affected by poverty, violence, and neglect. Developing relationships with under-resourced communities empowers volunteers to grow in a knowledge and faith that inspires them to lead a life of seeking justice. GSV has placements in New York, New Jersey and the Washington D.C. area in a variety of fields: public policy and advocacy, economic justice, youth counseling, foster care and education.
